Tell us abit about yourself..?

My name is Alison originally from Belfast and have been married to Halis for 16 years. We have 3 children Tarkan, Ashkin and Helin. I first lived in Kusadasi back in 1990 for 3 years then after 9 years in Belfast we moved back to Kush in 2002. We own an estate agent/construction company and a bar.

What made you first decide to visit Turkey?

After holidays in Majorca and Ibiza, my friend and I came across a brochure for Turkey. It was definitely cheaper than Spain so we thought we`d give it a try. The brochure only had Kusadasi or Bodrum in it (we are talking 1988) and the agent recommended Kusadasi. i have to say we were in shock when the coach drove into the resort. We were only 21 and were expecting another Magaluf But after the 1st day we were in love with the place. I remember the 1st time I heard the Hoca read the Ezan in the mosque; I got goose-pimples.

Which cities have you visited in Turkey?

Kusadasi, Soke, Aydin, Altinkum, Turgutreis, Bodrum, Istanbul, Ankara, Bursa, Antalya, Alanya, Manavgat, Side & Icmeler.

Would you like to visit again? If yes - What is it about Turkey that you love?

I was smitten from the 1st day I set foot in the country! The hospitality from the locals is unbelievable. They think nothing of inviting you to their home for dinner with 5 minutes notice (and no former warning to the mrs!). The country itself is amazing. With so many historical sites, beaches, skiing resorts, water sports what more could you ask from one place. I love the laidback attitude to everything; no ones ever in a hurry. Children still respect their elders; something which I think is misisng in my own country. My favourite place is Istanbul. I would happily live there fulltime but the hubby hates it!

Did you feel safe in Turkey?

Yes, even though I've been broken into twice I still feel quite safe.

How were the Turkish people?

The friendliest people in the world!

Do you have any suggestions for new visitors to Turkey? Travel - tour tips? Can you recommend any specific places or advice?

Yes. Dont go by your perceptions; come and see Turkey for yourself. You will be pleasantly surprised! Of course Ephesus is a must on your visit-list as are the palaces and mosques in Istanbul. Oh and not forgetting the thousands of little shops in the Grand Bazaar there. The waterfalls of Antalya are breathtaking. Kusadasi is a fantastic base for your holiday. The resort has everything you need and is also central to most places.
