Why people love to travel to Turkey?

Read Mavi's interview;

Tell us abit about yourself..?

I am 36 and Scottish. I have been married to my lovely turkish husband for almost 14 years, we me in Kusadasi (yes a holiday romance..) We have 3 gorgeous kids, 2 boys and a girl. We have 2 dogs, and a cat. After much thought, we have decided to move permanently to Turkey this year, and are in the process of packing and selling at the moment. Currently, I have a small Nail Bar, and am a fully qualifed technician, and my husband has his own take-away sandwich bar. (well we used to...we have sold and finish in 3 weeks..)

What made you first decide to visit Turkey?

A friend of my mums, who ran a travel agency, suggested Kusadasi as she had been many times and loved it..My first of many holidays there was in 1988..

Which cities have you visited in Turkey?

Places I have visited are: Kusadasi, Marmaris, Altinkum, Aydin, Izmir and Istanbul.

Would you like to visit again? If yes - What is it about Turkey that you love?

Soon we will be living there permanently. The things I love about Turkey are:- the people, really genuine, friendly and warm (most of them), the culture, the respect they have for their families, the historical places to visit - simply magical, the weather, the relaxed atmosphere...I could go on and on...

Did you feel safe in Turkey?

I have always felt very safe in Turkey, actually more safer than I would at home, or have felt in other countries.

How were the Turkish people?

Well, I married one!! I love the people, sooo friendly and welcoming. Having been to many destinations on holiday, I have felt most comfortable with Turkey, you do get the "hassle" to eat in restaurants and come into shops etc, like in most holiday resorts, but I have never been offered apple tea while just browsing the postcards in any other country or holiday resort in the world apart from Turkey...The turks seem genuinely interested in "your story", where you are from etc, it isnt all usually a sales ploy..

Do you have any suggestions for new visitors to Turkey? Travel - tour tips? Can you recommend any specific places or advice?

My advice would be decent sun cream, the sun is deceptively hot there...and take plenty spending money cause the bargains to be had are fantastic, gold and leather are my favourites..(not to mention the odd fake handbag or T shirt..). As for places to visit - I loved Ephesus and Pammukkale, and definately want to explore Cappadoccia, that looks amazing. I would love to have one of the cave houses there, I found a web site with a hotel built into the caves, I will definately stay there when I go...

Also I would reccommend that visitors get into the back streets or the turkish areas and sample some real turkish food and culture (you will probably end up in a waiter or the owners house meeting the rest of the family and having tea with them..)
